As part of the humanitarian mission of the Philippine Navy (PN) and as one of the command’s tribute for its upcoming 115th Anniversary Celebration, the “Dream Cruise 2013” was initiated in cooperation with Philippine Cancer Society Incorporated (PCSI) and the Philippine General Hospital (PGH).

On the 16th of March 2013, thirteen (13) children with disabilities experienced what it feels like to cruise Manila Bay aboard a Navy ship BRP Fort San Antonio Abad (AM 701) at sunset seeing a different outlook of the world outside the hospital.

A short program was steered headed by Commodore Jesus C Millan AFP, the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) wherein the children were given souvenirs, before they went on board AM 701.

AM 701 cruised from HPN to Manila Ocean Park and proceeded to Mall of Asia (MOA) for the 5th International Pyromusical Competition viewing which was much appreciated by the children al well as their guardians. The Philippine Marine Corps (PMC) Quartet’s performance added entertainment for the participant’s enjoyment. The children were accompanied by their guardians, PGH staff, teachers and PN personnel who acted as big brothers/big sisters as they enjoyed the manila bay cruise aboard the navy ship

As they went back to the PN headquarters, smiles were seen in everyone’s face. This kind of activity surely made them feel like normal and forgot the pain they always bear even for a while.

The Philippine Navy is looking forward to continue this kind of activities to show its deeper concern towards its adventure for serving the citizens of this maritime nation.
