GMA Kapuso Stars Richard Gutierrez and Paolo Contis together with Director Mark Reyes visited on Wednesday March 13, 2013 the Headquarters Philippine Navy (HPN) and paid a courtesy call on the Navy Chief, Vice Admiral Jose Luis M Alano AFP. The visit is in connection with the upcoming GMA primetime soap entitled “Love and Lies” wherein Richard and Paolo will be playing a role of a Navy Seal. Aside from the courtesy call, Richard and Paolo also signed up as Philippine Navy Reservists.

Richard expressed his enthusiasm and excitement with the project. “Exciting na makatrabaho ang Navy dahil first time lang ito mangyayari. Malaking karangalan to”, Richard said.

On the other hand Vice Admiral Alano assured the network that the Navy will provide its full support and assistance to the project.

“We look forward to this project in which we can show and highlight what the Philippine Navy is all about”, Vice Admiral Alano said. He likewise briefed Richard and Paolo about the rigid training and life of a Navy Seal.

The Naval Special Operations Group (NAVSOG) or Navy Seal is an elite unit of the Philippine Navy trained in special operations and unconventional warfare. It specializes in sea, air and land (SEAL) operations ranging from reconnaissance, close combat, demolition, intelligence and underwater operations in support of overall naval operations. The unit gained prominence in a number of counter-terrorism operations, most notably against the Abu Sayyaf Group, known for its highly-demanding physical and mental training program and is regarded as one of the toughest military selection programs in the entire Philippine military.
