DETAILS:

The Philippine Navy, through the Maritime Research Information Center (MRIC), will launch the MRIC inter-agency website on Friday, 28 January 2011, 9:30 a.m., at the Naval Station Jose Francisco, Fort Bonifaco, Taguig City. Honorable Voltaire T Gazmin, the Secretary of National Defense, will be the Guest of Honor during the activity.

An offshoot of the successful inter-agency information sharing seminar held last September 2010, the website will serve as a mechanism of information sharing and exchange among government agencies and maritime stakeholders.

The inter-agency website anchors on a framework of cooperative engagement. Among the partners and stakeholders include the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Office for Transport Security (OTS-DOTC), Philippine Center for Transnational Crime (PCTC), Bureau of Customs (BOC), Bureau of Immigration (BI) and the Department of Energy (DOE). The abovementioned agencies will collectively address the challenges and opportunities of the vast maritime environment that our archipelago has to offer.

The activity will also be attended by Rear Admiral Alexander P Pama, the Navy Chief, along with AFP stakeholders and different bureau chiefs, heads of private organizations and other maritime stakeholders.

Friends from the media are invited to cover the said event. Interested parties may coordinate with LTJG LIEZL M VIDALLON PN at mobile telephone number 0916-242-9920 for other details.
