Puerto Princesa City August 8, 2013 – A two-room school building was completed last July 26, 2013 by the combined team of US and Phil Navy Seabees at Simpokan Elementary School, Brgy. Simpokan, Puerto Princesa City.

The two-classroom school building was funded by United States Agency for International Development (USAID). It can accommodate 40 pupils each and is likely to augment with the room shortages in Simpokan Elementary School. The construction was made possible through the combined efforts of the US Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 5, Construction Civic Action Detail (CCAD) Philippines in partnership with Western Command through Vertical Unit Engineering Company (VUEC), 3rd Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (Seabees) Philippine Navy.

“The pupils, parents and the community are grateful for the help extended to us by the US government. It has given our pupils the opportunity to learn in a comfortable and conducive facility” Said Mr. Wenie Dagot TIC, Simpokan Elementary School.

The US Navy Seabees conducts CCAD operations in order to improve public infrastructure for the delivery of essential services, to develop and strengthen enduring relationship with the AFP and to demonstrate US commitment to the Republic of the Philippines.
