ALL HANDS

By: LT. MARINETH R DOMINGO PN

A day prior the departure of BRP Alcaraz is the tedious preparation of “all hands,” a Navy lingo that only means everybody. The ship left Hawaii on July 16, 2013 for Guam. Refuelling was done by the Damage Control Department wherein it was being guarded and closely supervised by all on duty to ensure the safety of the ship especially the crew on board. Last minute provisioning and administrative coordination was also made through phone calls, emails and in person. Likewise, all hands had been tying loose ends and making sure that all cargoes on board are properly and securely stockpiled, also as security measure to ensure that the ship will be good-to-go during the voyage. All armaments, equipment and engines were also tested if they are up and running and in excellent condition to service the operational needs of the whole of BRP Ramon Alcaraz.
